Lalitpur metropolis says it fixed almost all potholes on city roads

A road is being blacktopped.

Kathmandu, August 3

The Lalitpur Metropolitan City has said it fixed almost all potholes on major city roads, following a directive from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

More than two weeks ago, the Prime Minister had directed concerned authorities to fix potholes of Kathmandu. Though the Kathmandu Metropolitan City said it would not invest in the road improvement till the end of monsoon, its neighbour Lalitpur took the initiative and completed the task.

LMC Executive Officer Hari Prasad Dahal says the metropolis launched a campaign after the PM’s directive as the city’s Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan took the lead in the project. A progress report has been sent to the Office of the Prime Minister informing about the works done, he adds.

The LMC says it coordinated with Department of Roads and Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited to improve the condition of roads.

Dahal says few potholes are yet to be fixed in some places, but they will also be fixed very soon.

Meanwhile, the city introduced a new rule that the blacktop of roads in the city should be at least 1.5 inch thick.
