Former House of Representatives speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara’s wife Sita Mahara has died of Covid-19 on Wednesday morning, according to family sources.

Mahara breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Norvic International Hospital of Kathmandu at 6:25 this morning.

Mahara had gone to the family’s ancestral home in Rolpa to celebrate the Dashain festival last month. After she experienced some health problems, she was admitted to the Gorkha Hospital in Dang on October 29. She was airlifted to Kathmandu the next day when the oxygen level in her body plunged.

During a PCR test in Kathmandu, she had tested positive for the coronavirus. She was also suffering from pneumonia.

The Kathmandu hospital had kept her on ventilator since last Saturday.

It has been learned that Sita Mahara was also suffering from myasthenia for the past 10 years.
