KP Oli accuses Nepal PM Prachanda of moral bankruptcy

KP-Oli (1)

Kathmandu, August 25

Former prime minister and CPN-UML President KP Sharma Oli said on Thursday Prime Minister Prachanda has already lost moral courage to speak the truth.

Former PM Oli said he does not want to comment on Prachanda’s remarks. Oli said this after Prachanda refuted CPN-UML claims that PM Prachanda has made a written pledge on amending Nepal’s Constitution to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Oli, talking to the media at Tribhuvan International Airport before his departure to Thailand for medical treatment, claimed Prachanda is resorting to falsehood as telling the truth will tarnish his image. He said: I have nothing to say about the man, who does not dare tell the truth.

After regular health check-up in Thailand, Oli will take part in a programme of Nepali diaspora in Chiang Mai. He will also attend a programme of Nepali diaspora in Indonesia.

In his absence, senior UML Vice-president Bamdev Gautam will discharge duties as acting president of the party. Oli will return home after two weeks.

Foreign visits of CPN-UML Chief KP Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba will surely affect the Constitution amendment process that the Prachanda government is setting in motion

Oli’s departure comes amid reports that PM Prachanda is seeking to forge an understanding on Constitution amendment and other issues in coordination with major political parties. His trip is likely to affect the Constitution amendment process that the government is initiating to placate the United Democratic Madheshi Front. The UML has already opposed the process.

What’s more, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is also leaving for Singapore on Friday for medical treatment.
