Khatiwada: Budget plan’ll balance people’s expectations and available resources

Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada has assured that the new budget plan for the fiscal year 2019/20 will balance people’s expectations and availability of resources.

Responding to concerns of lawmakers raised during a discussion on policies and priorities of the budget plan in House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Minister said the plan would be prepared on the basis of political and economic systems of the country and its relationships with the international community.

“The government is committed to implementing fiscal federalism. Likewise, a balance will be maintained among provinces in terms of implementation of big infrastructure projects,” he told the meeting, adding the budget plan would also consider objectives set by the constitution.

Wrapping up the discussion, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that all suggestions provided during the meeting would be sent to the Ministry of Finance for consideration.

The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday next week.
