Kathmandu police form panel to probe shoe attack on Dahal

File: SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa

Kathmandu, March 2

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office in Kathmandu has formed a three-member panel to investigate an attack on the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

A man had hurled a shoe at Dahal during a public function at Rastriya Sabha Griha on Sunday. Police have arrested the attacker for further investigation.

SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, the chief of the Metropolitan Crime Division, heads the team. As the division is responsible for investigating serious criminal cases taking place in the valley, appointing Thapa as the coordinator suggests that the Nepal Police has considered yesterday’s incident seriously.

Other members of the team are DSP Hobindra Bogati and Inspector Yubaraj Timsina. The commissioner’s office has told the panel to submit its report in the next three days.
