Kathmandu, June 2

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is planning to buy “tree transplanters”, equipment to uproot grown trees from one place and transplant them onto other places.

The KMC hopes that these machines will help the Capital city maintain its greenery and conserve the environment from other infrastructural development activities.

KMC Executive Officer Ishwar Raj Paudel says a notice calling tenders for the purchase will be issued within a couple of days.

“We are immediately purchasing two transplanters,” Paudel says, adding that no any authority has to cut down trees during development activities after the purchase of machines.

“Currently, it is very difficult to grow up plants on roadside. Now, we can grow plants elsewhere and transplant by the road.”

He informs that trees with a height ranging from 10 to 20 feet can be transplanted.

Meanwhile, the KMC is also purchasing five broomer machines to clean up the city road very soon.
