Kathmandu Mayor: Former Secretary Thapa announces candidacy for the post

Kathmandu, April 14

Former government secretary Kishore Thapa says he is going to run for Kathmandu’s Mayor in the upcoming elections.

Thapa, who is affialted to Sajha Party, will have to contest as an independent candidate as the new party has not been given official recognition yet.

Party chief Rabindra Mishra says Sajha will soon name its candidate for Deputy Mayor and Thapa’s plan for Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Thapa is an architect by profession. During his stint with the government, he has worked as a secretary at the ministries of education, urban development, and tourism. After his retirement from government service, he has been involved with the Clean Bagmati Campaign. He is considered an expert on housing policy.
