Kathmandu, March 23
The local government in the country’s capital is planning to install five water dispensing machines (water ATMs) by the beginning of the new Nepali year (April 13) so as to provide clean drinking water to the public.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s decision follows a popular move of its neighbour, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, to install the first of its kind machine in Pulchok around one year ago.
The machines will be kept at Shankha Park (KMC-4), Bhuikhel (KMC-15), Balaju Park (KMC-16), Shankhadhar Park (KMC-28) and Trolley Bus Compound (KMC-31).
KMC acting chief executive officer Rajeshwar Gyawali and Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board executive director Sanjeev Bikram Rana signed an agreement in the presence of KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya to install the machines with a target of launching the operation on April 13.
