Kathmandu, December 27
After a contempt of court case was filed against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City for its failure to remove hoarding boards as ordered by the Supreme Court four years ago, the city government launched a campaign to implement the order.
The capital’s local government began removing the hoarding boards today after Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa held a meeting with concerned officials, directing them to implement the order as soon as possible, Thursday.
Four task forces have been formed to remove hoarding boards in the city. Representatives of the District Administration Office, Nepal Police, Department of Roads, Nepal Electricity Authority and Nepal Telecom have also been included in the drive.
A Supreme Court division bench of then Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Om Prakash Mishra had ordered the removal of hoarding boards inside the city government’s jurisdiction on September 2, 2015.
