The House of Representatives’ parliamentary calendar has been disrupted after its meetings were postponed indefinitely.
According to the parliamentary calendar, meetings of the House of Representatives were scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. However, it is unclear when the House will convene next.
On August 26, the Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a notice announcing that the House of Representatives meeting had been postponed indefinitely.
Had the House meeting proceeded according to the calendar, Monday’s agenda would have included a proposal to consider the Employees Provident Fund (Tenth Amendment) Bill, 2083. The tentative agenda also included zero hour and the presentation of several annual reports.
Similarly, Tuesday’s agenda included a general discussion on the agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea concerning the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
The tentative agenda also included zero hour, special hour and a question-and-answer session with ministries.
However, the House meetings could not proceed as scheduled. A meeting of the House of Representatives’ Business Advisory Committee is being held on Tuesday to discuss issues including the disruption to the parliamentary calendar.
The meeting, to be held at Singha Durbar, will also discuss when to schedule the next meeting of the House of Representatives.
According to the parliamentary calendar, Wednesday’s tentative agenda includes a proposal to consider the Children (First Amendment) Bill, 2083, as well as zero hour.
The calendar also includes the dates of subsequent meetings and their tentative agendas. However, House of Representatives meetings have not been able to proceed according to the schedule.
