Butwal, November 5

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has claimed that various efforts to push the country towards instability have failed as the government improved the country’s security situation.

Speaking at the provincial security meeting hosted by the Province 5 Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law in Butwal on Tuesday, Thapa said, “The security situation is not like how it was yesterday. It is improving. Whatever problems were seen in the past, whatever efforts were made to push the country towards instability, they have been solved now.”

Hinting at the prosecution of former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam, the minister said the government was tough in the implementation of existing laws.

In another context, he said legal preparations were underway to form provincial police bodies, adding the process would conclude soon.

Province 5 Chief Minister Shanker Pokhrel, Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai, security officials and chief district officers of the districts in the province are attending the meeting.
