Kathmandu, December 14

If it had been other years, by this time of the year, all 10th-grade students across the country would have already filled application forms for the annual Secondary Education Examination (SEE) to be held in March next year.

However, the government is yet to decide if and how it will conduct the examinations as the Covid-19 pandemic has disturbed the regular schedule. Some schools have conducted online classes, but apparently many have not accessed it.

The exams were postponed at the 11th hour last year as the fear of coronavirus infection increased. Later, the government had authorised schools themselves to grade their students, which the National Examination Board had certified.

For this year, the board officials say the government should make a decision as it had decided a solution last year also. Seeking its advice, the board has already sent a letter to the Ministry of Education, but the ministry is yet to respond to that.

Meanwhile, sources in the ministry say consultations are underway to make a decision.
