Kathmandu, June 4

Warning the country would face new waves of the coronavirus infection even after the current spread in the second wave subsides, the Ministry of Health and Population has told all hospitals in the country to allocate 20 per cent of the beds they have for Covid-19 patients, children in particular.

In a circular issued today, the ministry has urged all government, private, community and cooperative hospitals to keep 20 per cent of the beds as well as alternative sources of oxygen ready for use.

The ministry says the country’s Covid-19 response so far was focused on adults, but the new waves could hit the children hardest.
