Govt tables bill to mobilise existing human resources at local level

Kathmandu, July 9

The government on Sunday tabled the Staff Adjustment Bill, which will prepare legal ground to mobilise existing human resources at the newly created structure of local governance.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopal Man Shrestha, who has been taking the charge of Ministry of Law as well, tabled the billed during the House meeting today.

The bill proposes to mobilise staff at local, provincial and federal levels on the basis of their positions and nature of work, the staff’s preference, their existing work station and their permanent address as mentioned in the citizenship certificate.

Likewise, it has been proposed that a three-member coordination committee will be formed under the leadership of Chief Secretary to coordinate and monitor the adjustment process.

Nepal Workers and Peasants Party lawmaker Prem Suwal had objected to the bill, demanding only 40 per cent of revenues be spent on salary an benefits of staff.
