Govt begins spending money from Covid-19 fund

Kathmandu, May 31

More than two months after the establishment of an especial fund for the country’s Covid-19 response, the government has recently begun spending money from it.

Officials say the federal government recently released Rs 51.77 million to various health facilities including hospitals and labs located in two dozen districts.

The Financial Comptroller General Office released the fund via district financial comptroller offices.

In addition, the National Health Research Council has received Rs 13.9 million.

As per the latest update issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the fund currently has Rs 2.305 billion. Meanwhile, many business corporations and members of the public continue to extend their support to the fund.
