Banke that was a hotspot of the coronavirus infection around two months ago did not record any Covid-19 death in the past five days, giving health workers there an assurance that the crisis has come into control there.

No one has died of Covid-19 in the district since June 18, informs the district Covid-19 focal person Tej Oli. In this period, the district added only 29 new Covid-19 cases, according to him.

“You cannot say the risk is over unless the infection rate comes down to zero,” he says, “But, definitely, the infection is heading towards a control.”

As of Tuesday, there are 75 active cases in the district. Of them, 44 are hospitalised.

Over 88 per cent of the beds of four Covid-19 hospitals in the district are vacant now, it has been learned. The hospitals had 361 beds allocated for Covid-19 patients.
