THe CPN-Maoist Centre’s Secretariat member Gopal Kiranti has expressed his dissent over the party’s decision to begin conversations with the CPN-UML about a possible merger between the two parties.

During a meeting of the party’s Secretariat held yesterday, Kiranti had opposed to his Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s seven-point proposal about the unification. He was the single leader to speak against the chief’s proposal, according to the party source.

“I will not go to the UML, instead reform the Maoist movement,” Kiranti says, “I will revolt against the party decision.”

During the meeting, Kiranti said the UML was against the issue of identity, one of the major agendas of Maoist party. “What will be the fate of this agenda after the unification with UML,” he questioned Dahal.
