5 new ministers sworn in, completing Bagmati Province’s 14-member cabinet

Five newly appointed ministers of the Bagmati Province government took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday.

Province Chief Dipak Prasad Devkota administered the oath to Prabhat Tamang, Kanchan Chandra Bade, Suresh Shrestha, Armila KC Nepal, and Binu Rayamajhi. Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya appointed them earlier the same day.

Bade from Kavre has been assigned to the Ministry of Social Development, Tamang from Rasuwa to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, Nepal from Lalitpur to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Shrestha from Bhaktapur to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Rayamajhi from Chitwan to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

On August 5, Chief Minister Baniya had appointed eight ministers, including himself, and completed the 14-member Cabinet in the second phase by inducting five members from his own party, the Nepali Congress, ten days later.

Earlier, on August 5, the Nepali Congress had appointed Krishna Tamang from Sindhupalchok as Minister for Water Supply, Energy, and Irrigation, and Shivraj Adhikari from Dhading as a minister without portfolio. Adhikari has now been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Similarly, the CPN-UML ministers appointed on August 4 include Madhusudan Paudel from Lalitpur as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota from Kathmandu as Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Bharat KC from Rasuwa as Minister for Forest and Environment, Jayarath Thapa from Kathmandu as Minister for Labour, Employment, and Transport, and Bindu Shrestha as Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration.
