Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: What new Google phones have to offer to the users in Nepal

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are the latest releases from Google. These are the flagship phones from the global tech giant company, Google, and they have some promising features. Google Pixel phones are known for having top-tier cameras, a clean stock Android operating system, and also they are probably the first smartphones to get Android updates. Along with Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi, it is one of the best smartphones available at the moment.

There are no official outlets of the phone in Nepal, but there are some followers that use the Pixel brand. Also, you can get the phones from different smartphone outlets in the market.

Let’s get into the specifications and details of Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

The Pixel 6 series comes with a glass front, glass back and an aluminium frame. The Pixel 6 Pro has a Gorilla Glass Victus at the back whereas Pixel 6 has a Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Both phones are 8.9mm thick, but 6 pro is a little larger and weighs more as well.

Both phones have a huge camera bar on the back that runs through the full width of the phone. They also have an under-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the device. Also, the phones ensure durability as they are IP68 certified.

One of the best camera phones available in the market at the moment, the Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a maximum resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.71-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120HZ refresh rate and a maximum resolution of 1,440*3,120 pixels. Both of them have an always-on display. The display of these phones is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

Google Pixel 6 has a dual camera on its back and the Google Pixel 6 Pro has a triple camera setup. There is a similar 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera on both phones. The Pixel 6 Pro has an extra 48MP telephoto camera that has a 4x optical zoom feature. There is a dual-LED flash housed along with the cameras.

At the front, Google Pixel 6 houses an 8MP camera whereas Pixel 6 Pro houses an 11.1MP ultrawide camera.

Both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro’s main cameras can record videos in 4K up to 60fps and 1080p up to 240fps. The Pixel 6 Pro’s front camera can also record videos in 4K which is limited to 1080p only on Pixel 6.

There are some incredible camera features on Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro like Magic eraser, motion mode, natural portrait mode, dual exposure controls, night sight+ astrophotography and it even has a camera coaching mode to help you improve your photography skills.

Performance and battery life

The Pixel 6 series runs on the new Android 12 and is powered by Google Tensor (5nm) chipset. Google Tensor is the first chip made by Google and it is just for Pixel. Powered by an octa-core CPU, the graphics of these phones are handled by Mali-G78 MP20. The company also claims the phone will receive new software updates every few months.

There is a 4,614 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery on the Google Pixel 6 whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has a 5,003 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. Both phones have a 30W fast charging and can be charged 50% in just 30 minutes. They also support fast wireless charging; Pixel supports 21W fast wireless charging whereas Pixel 6 Pro supports 23W. There is also a reverse wireless charging feature on the phones.

The adaptive batteries in these phones prioritise the power for your favourite apps to give you 24+ hours of battery life on normal use.  If you are low on power, it has an Extreme Battery Saver mode that will make the phone stay powered on for up to 48 hours.

Storage, connectivity and price

Google Pixel 6 comes with 8GB RAM and internal memory storage options of 128GB and 256GB. Meanwhile, Pixel 6 Pro comes with a 12GB RAM option with an internal storage option of 128GB, 256G and 512GB. There is no external card slot on the phone.

Connecting these phones are a 5G network, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a USB Type 3.1. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the phones, but they do have stereo speakers for audio.

The starting price of Google Pixel 6 is $599 and that of Pixel 6 Pro is $899. There are no official distributors of the phones in Nepal, but they should be available in different smartphone retail stores in the market.
