Kathmandu, November 1

Notorious gangster Ganesh Lama will run for a set in the provincial assembly of Province 3 as the Nepali Congress has decided to field him for the position from a constituency in Kavrepalanchok district.

According to a decision made by the party’s Parliamentary Board, Lama will be the party’s candidate for provincial elections from Kavre-2 B.

Congress leader Ramesh Rijal says the Board unanimously endorsed Lama’s name as it was recommended by the district committee.

Lama was associated with Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar-led Nepal Democratic Forum, which merged with Nepali Congress recently.

A money laundering case against Lama is sub-judice at the Special Court.

Earlier, gangster Deepak Manange has received the CPN-UML’s support for the polls in Manang.

Meanwhile, the Congress decided to field Tirtha Lama and Madhu Acharya from two constituencies of Kavre for House of Representatives.

The leftist alliance is yet to finalise the candidates in the district.
