Four settlements of Rupandehi, Banke sealed off

Butwal, May 2

A village in Kothimai rural municipality of Rupandehi and three settlements of Nepalgunj in Banke have been sealed off after a positive case of coronavirus infection was reported in each of the districts.

According to the Rupandehi District Police Office chief SP Hem Kumar Thapa, the brother of the infected man in the district, who went to the Indian border to meet and pick him up, has also been quarantined along with six other family members since Friday. All will undergo the test for coronavirus, adds Thapa.

The infected man had arrived home through Thothari port in Marchwar of Rupandehi after travelling from Delhi of India on a truck and on foot.

Similarly, two mosques, one in ward 1 and another in ward 8 of Nepalgunj in Banke, and their surrounding areas have also been sealed off.

The restriction was implemented after a 60-year-old male residing near Mahendra Park of DSP Road tested positive for coronavirus after coming from Bahrain about a month ago.

Meanwhile, another youth in Dhamboji of the city has been suspected of infection. His swab sample has been collected for a test, but the result is yet to come out, informs Province no 5 Public Health Laboratory chief Dr Rajendra Giri.

The two are being kept in isolation at Khajura-based Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital.
