Woman arrested in Rupandehi with one kilogram of gold jewellery

The Armed Police Force Nepal has arrested a woman in Rupandehi with one kilogram of gold jewellery.

APF Nepal Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa said the woman was arrested with one kilogram of gold jewellery from Shantigate in Siddharthanagar Municipality-1 on Wednesday night.

The arrested woman has been identified as 46-year-old Ila Patel, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19, Thapa said. A team deployed from the APF Nepal Border Security Gulma in Danda arrested her.

The team arrested Patel based on a tip-off while she was travelling to Nepal from India.

Following her arrest, the jewellery was tested by gold and silver traders in Siddharthanagar and found to weigh one kilogram, Thapa said.

She was handed over to the Bhairahawa Customs Office in Rupandehi along with the recovered gold for necessary action.

The APF said the seized gold is valued at Rs 25,193,350.
