3 killed, 4 seriously injured in Rupandehi EV accident

Three people were killed and four others were seriously injured when a passenger EV met with an accident in Rupandehi district on Tuesday night.

According to DSP Ganesh Sapkota, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Rupandehi, the deceased have been identified as Khumbahadur Acharya, 45, of Sainamaina-8 Bansgadhi; Jitendra Thapa, 43, of Kanchan Rural Municipality-5; and Khem BK, 42. Police said all three died during treatment at Pipara Hospital in Kapilvastu.

Those seriously injured include the driver, Bikram Shrestha, 35; his 10-year-old son, Samir Shrestha; Sonu Chaudhary, 32; and Ashok Thapa, 39. They sustained severe head injuries and were referred to Butwal for further treatment late at night, police said.

Police reported that the EV, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 01-006 Kh 7782, was heading towards Rudrapur when it went out of control at around 10:30 pm, hit a roadside tree, and plunged about three meters off the road. The vehicle has been taken under police control for further investigation.
