Kathmandu, June 12
Former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba attended the programme organised at Dashrath Stadium on Sunday to announce the birth of Naya Shakti Nepal under the leadership of another former PM and former Maoist leader, Baburam Bhattarai. However, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chair of the CPN-Maoist Centre, chose to give the programme a miss, though Dahal and Bhattarai were both with the UCPN-Maoist, which launched the decade-long insurgency in Nepal.
On behalf of the Centre, outgoing general secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara is attending the programme.
CPN-UML President and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was scheduled to deliver his best wishes on the birth of the alternative force.
