Kathmandu, January 21

The KP Oli government is distributing warm clothes to earthquake victims living in highlands of three severely affected districts — Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok
— from Thursday.

Prime Minister Oli is kickstarting the campaign from Melamchi of Sindhupalchok.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Chakra Bahadur Budha, said the government is distributing household logistics and warm clothes to earthquake-affected households based in the Himalayan region and high hills.

Shahi said: The Rs 10,000 that the government has provided will not be enough for purchasing warm clothes. So, we are distributing warm clothes and other household logistics to the affected families in view of the winter.

Through this campaign, the government aims to distribute warm clothes to 6,000 victims. The government is distributing Rs 10,000 to each quake-affected household. It says distribution of this dole has been going on uninterrupted despite the recent snowfall, adding that warm clothes for the victims are also on the way.

Rushing essentials to the most vulnerable populations in the highlands has turned out to be a difficult undertaking with the Indian blockade and the Madhesh movement causing a shortage of essentials like fuel.
