Kathmandu, March 13
The federal government is preparing to give Rs 161.66 billion to provincial and local governments in equalisation grants next fiscal year that begins in mid-July.
The National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission is responsible to decide the amounts every fiscal year. Recently, the commission submitted its recommendation to the government for the next fiscal year.
As per the recommendation, seven provinces in total will get Rs 61.43 billion in equalisation grants whereas the 753 local governments will receive Rs 100.23 billion.
Each local government will get at least Rs 27.5 million, but the amount will be different from one unit to another, mainly based on population.
Provincial and local governments get four types of grants from the federal government every year.
