EPL: Gladiators and Patriots to play for final berth Thursday

Lalitpur Patriots will lock horns with Bhairahawa Gladiators in the second qualifier match of the ongoing Everest Premier League in Kirtipur of Kathmandu on Thursday. The winners of the match will vie for the title against Biratnagar Warriors.

In the eliminator match held today, Nepal national team’s vice captain Gyanendra Malla-led Patriots edged Pokhara Rhinos by 27 runs to keep the hope of winning the title alive.

At the match today, Rhinos fell short of 28 runs to achieve the target of 139 runs posted by Patriots when they were all-out. They had five balls to play then.

Thanks to the poor performance of batsmen, Rhinos lost first six wickets for meagre 34 runs. Israrullah, Kishor Mahato and Sushan Bhari conntributed 25, 23 and 17 runs to the team respectively.

In the first innings, Lalitpur Patriots made 138 runs in allocated 20 overs. Shankar Rana and Jaykishan Kolsawala’s 60-run partnership in the first wicket and 62-run partnership of Sanni Patel and Dipesh BHandari in the sixth wicket made grounds for Patrots’ score which Rhinos failed to meet.
