Kathmandu, May 14

Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, who has been taking the charge of presidency as President Bidya devi Bhandari is out of the country, has said the first phase of local level elections has been held enthusiastically today and hence it is a historic achievement towards constitution implementation.

He has hoped that the second phase of polls, scheduled for June 14, will also be held successfully.

Expressing his belief that the polls would strengthen democracy and open the door to prosperity, the Vice-President said, “This historic day is the day we Nepalis should be very proud of.”

In his message, Pun has thanked the government, the Election Commission, government staff, security agencies, political parties, media, observers and voters for the successful polls.

He has hoped that the government and parties will collaborate for the second phase elections.
