The Election Commission on Thursday has urged non-government organisations to carry out their activities in an unbiased way in the run-up to local level elections.

Speaking at an interaction with representatives of the NGOs which have been carrying out voter education programmes in the Capital today, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said the organisations should strictly implement the election code of conduct.

“Please give a message that any single vote cannot be sold or purchased,” he added.

There are around 50,000 NGOs across the nation. Many of them have launched voter education programmes in the run-up to the polls.
