Kathmandu, January 21
The Election Commission says it will publish the list of voters for National Assembly elections scheduled for February 7 today.
The Commission’s spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal says the Commission will publish the names as soon as members of provincial assemblies of all seven provinces take the oath of office and secretary. The oath is scheduled for today.
The constitution has it that members of provincial assemblies and chiefs and deputy chiefs of local governments will vote for the upper House. Accordingly, 550 provincial lawmakers and 1506 leaders of 753 local governments to cast ballots.
The National Assembly will have 59 members, 56 from seven provinces (8 from each representing different categories) and three appointed by the President.
