Egg prices have increased again in the market. The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association said the price of eggs has increased by Rs 10 to Rs 15 per crate, effective from Tuesday.
According to the price list issued by the association, the depot and dealer price for extra-large eggs has been set at Rs 4,300 per box, while the price of large eggs has been fixed at Rs 4,200 per box.
Accordingly, an extra-large egg will now cost Rs 615 per crate, while a large egg will cost Rs 600 per crate.
Previously, the association had fixed the prices effective from September 4. At that time, extra-large eggs were priced at Rs 605 per crate, large eggs at Rs 590 and medium eggs at Rs 550. The price of small eggs was fixed at Rs 3,200 per box.
The association said that although wholesale and farm-gate prices have been increased, the retail prices paid by consumers have not been raised.
According to association secretary Madan Pokhrel, consumers will continue to buy large eggs at Rs 25 per piece and two medium eggs for Rs 45.
