East-West Highway obstructed after bus kills two in Kailali

Kailali, November 4

Pahalmanpur road section of the East-West Highway has been obstructed by locals after a bus (Bhe 1 Kha 1732) hit a motorbike (Se 3 Pa 6376) killing two people.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Bahadur Chaudhary and Man Bahadur Chaudhary from Pahalmanpur-10.

Sukhkhad Area Police Office chief, Inspector Harisharan Bhatta, informs that the locals had obstructed the highway demanding action against the culprits and compensation. Meanwhile, the transport entrepreneurs’ committee and family of the deceased along with other locals are holding talks at the base camp of Armed Police Force in Pahalwanpur, informs local Pratap Chaudhary.

The highway had been obstructed from 8 am but was later opened after a request from the District Administration Office. However, locals then obstructed the highway again as talks were underway. Dozens of vehicles travelling along the highway are at a standstill with over 100 passengers stranded.

The family of the deceased have refused to collect the bodies of the deceased. Ram Bahadur’s body is still at the incident site. While the remains of Man Bahadur, who was taken to Seti Provincial Hospital, is at the hospital.
