Kathmandu, March 2
The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital has assigned a surgical team led by urologist Dr Prem Raj Gyawali to perform Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s kidney transplantation scheduled for Wednesday.
The team will include four other surgeons from the hospital, Gyawali informs.
The urologist says his team is meeting at 3 pm today to discuss if any foreign consultant will be included in the team. “Even if they are in the team, they will not be asked to perform the transplant itself. They will stay there standby to handle any emergency situation,” he informs.
In particular, a surgeon from India’s Apollo Hospital is likely to be called to Kathmandu as he was involved in Oli’s first kidney transplant in 2008.
Meanwhile, Oli is being admitted to the hospital this afternoon, according to members of his secretariat.
