Kathmandu, February 4

After days of investigation, police have cracked the mysterious discovery of two bodies at Kamalpur, Dhanpalthan rural municipality-7.

The discovery of the third body, of a man, in Thecho of Lalitpur in the Kathmandu valley, on Thursday has helped police crack the mystery completely.

Police arrested three persons in connection with the murders and paraded them on Friday. Police suspect some more people might be involved in the case and hence the manhunt has continued.

Investigations have suggested Anil Kumar Mandal, a resident of the Siraha district, is the mastermind of the case. Besides him, Amit Shah and Nasir Alam, residents of Morang, have been arrested.

SP Janardan GC, the chief of the Morang District Police Office, says they first killed Mohan Limbu (63) in Lalitpur over one and a half months ago. “Then, Mandal came to Biratnagar, taking Rajendra Kumar Shrestha and Shambhu Kumar Chaudhary,” he says, “He killed Rajendra on December 20, 2021, and Shambhu on December 22.”

Limbu’s body in Lalitpur was buried in such a way that no one would discover it until getting any information, according to SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, the chief of the Metropolitan Crime Division.

Mastermind Mandal and the three victims are said to be partners in various investment projects.
