CPN-ML chief CP Mainali ‘seriously injured’ in Mahottari collision

CPN-ML leader CP Mainali sustained injuries in a road accident, in Bardibas of Mahottari district, on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

Kathmandu, February 27

The chief of the CPN-ML, CP Mainali, has been critically injured when a car he was in collided with a pick-up van in Bardibas of Mahottari district in southwestern Nepal on Thursday afternoon.

Mainali, also a former deputy prime minister, was coming to Kathmandu from his home district of Jhapa on a car (Ba 7 Cha 2120) when it collided with the van (Na 4 Cha 7680), according to police. Mainali’s son, daughter-in-law, grandson and driver also sustained injuries.

Of them, the leader and his daughter-in-law are critical, according to DSP Rajan Chapagain at the Bardibas Area Police Office. Mainali has sustained injuries in his head and foot.

After receiving primary treatment at Bardibas Janasewa Hospital, the leader has been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.
