Covid-19 Nepal: Chitwan father-son duo die in a difference of few hours

Chitwan, May 10

A father-son duo have died of Covid-19 in the Chitwan district of southern Nepal in a difference of just a few hours.

The 38-year-old son, a resident of Ratnanagar municipality-3 of the district, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Chitwan Medical College on Monday morning. He had tested positive for the coronavirus five days ago.

A few hours before that on Sunday night, his 70-year-old father had died after experiencing symptoms of the disease. Although the virus infection in him was not tested, it is suspected that he had also been infected.

After testing positive for the virus five days ago, the son was in home isolation. However, after he experienced some problems, he was rushed to the hospital on Saturday, and the father would travel between home and hospital to take care of the son.

However, the father also began to cough and had diarrhoea on Sunday night, forcing the neighbours to take him to the hospital.

The doctors declared him dead upon arrival at the hospital, informs the ward chairman Govinda Bhattarai.

Bhattarai says family members and neighbours cremated the septuagenarian’s body whereas a Nepal Army team cremated the son’s.
