Council takes action against three High Court judges for crossing jurisdiction

Kathmandu, July 29

The Judicial Council has decided to take action against three judges of Pokhara High Court in Gandaki province after they were found to be crossing their provincial jurisdiction.

Ram Chandra Yadav, Jeevan Hari Adhikari and Nara Bahadur Shahi have been accused of breaching their jurisdiction in issuing a verdict in a case related to tax evasion by Gorkha Brewery.

The Council meeting on Sunday formed a team under the leadership of Supreme Court Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan to look into the issue. The Council will decide further action after the team completes the probe, according to sources.

Meanwhile, the Council transferred three other High Court judges.

Chief judge of Tulsipur High Court, Nahakul Subedi, has been transferred to Patan High Court.

Ramesh Pokharel, current chief judge at Surkhet High Court, will replace Subedi in Tulsipur where Kumar Chudal, incumbent chief judge of Patan, will replace Pokharel in Surkhet.
