Kathmandu, January 8

Despite protests from opposition parties, including the main opposition CPN-UML, the Prachanda-led government tabled the Constitution Amendment Bill in the Parliament on Sunday.

This came after a recent Supreme Court ruling in response to the Bill.

The government presented two Election Bills and also decided to forward the impeachment motion filed against suspended CIAA Chief Commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki to the Impeachment Recommendation Committee.

Amid voices of protest, Speaker Gharti rejected protest notices coming from lawmakers Prem Suwal and Chitra Bahadur KC.

Subsequently, Minister for Law Ajaya Shankar Nayak tabled the Bill in the Parliament.
