Kathmandu, June 4

The Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre, which are trying to form a new government under the leadership of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, have expedited discussions on power sharing between the parties.

Recently, the two parties have agreed that the NC will lead ministries of foreign affairs and physical infrastructure and transport whereas the Ministry of Energy will be led by a Maoist leader.

In the current coalition government as well, NC leaders Prakash Sharan Mahat and Ramesh Lekhak are leading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport respectively. Likewise, the Energy Ministry is with the Maoists currently.

Meanwhile, the Congress will keep the Ministry of Defence within itself.

The two parties have already agreed that they will switch the leadership at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A two-party task force comprising Bimalendra Nidhi and Ramesh Lekhak from the NC and Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Barsha Man Pun from the CPN-MC is busy finalising the list of ministries to be lead by each parties in the coalition.
