Congress-Maoist government remote-controlled, designed to create politico-constitutional vacuum: Former PM KP Oli

Kathmandu, August 10

CPN-UML President and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli said on Wednesday that pushing the country into a constitutional and political vacuum was the purpose behind the formation of the ruling alliance comprising Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre.

And Oli made it clear that his party will not endorse the deals on which the NC-Maoist alliance stands.

Oli, speaking at an interaction that Press Chautari Nepal had organised in the UML party office said: The current government has decided not to conduct local-level polls in Mangsir (about four months from now). This also means this government has no intention of conducting elections for a provincial assembly.

The former PM said: The idea behind the formation of the current ruling alliance is the creation of a constitutional and political vacuum in the country. Conspiracies are afoot now as well. Ruling parties have already said they will not conduct local-level polls in Mangsir.

He said his party will not engage in what he called ‘politics of revenge’, adding that constitutional amendments should be justifiable. Oli went on: The Congress and the Maoists (CPN-Maoist Centre) have signed deals on various issues like Constitution amendment with the Federal Alliance. It has made several promises. But the UML does not recognise those deals. It will not endorse them.

He then described the present government as remote-controlled and said they know who controls the remote.
