Charikot, May 11

A complaint has been filed against 39 leaders and cadres of the CPN-Maoist Centre in Gauri Shankar Rural Municipality of Dolakha district after a CPN-UML cadre was killed in a clash with them on Tuesday night.

Kul Bahadur Tamang, son of Gore Tamang, a UML candidate for ward member in Gauri Shankar-1, had sustained injuries in a clash with Maoists and died few hours later.

After the incident, Gore filed the complaint at the District Police Office citing Maoist leaders including former state minister Devi Khadka, Bishal Khada, Ganga Karki and Bimarsha Raj Karki among others were involved in the “murder” of his son.

Following the registration of complaint, police arrested eight suspects and a manhunt was launched in search of others.

Meanwhile, some Maoist cadres have fled the village after the incident.

UML cadres have been staging protests at various places of the district against the alleged murder.

Ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre have formed an election alliance against the UML in most local levels of the district.
