Competition among senior police officials growing, comments Home Secretary

Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane addresses a function in Kathmandu, on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

Kathmandu, February 12

Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane has expressed his concerns over growing competition among senior officials of Nepal Police, stating it would force the officers to compromise their professionalism.

Addressing a function organised to confer insignia on the newly-appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police, Thakur Prasad Gyawaly, in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Neupane said, “Aren’t we thinking less about the organisation while we are busy thinking about ourselves? I request all the friends [police officers] to forward their opinions to the high-ranking officials through the chain of command and stop running here and there.”

He said crimes would thrive if the Nepal Police could not be active, suggesting the organisation review its performance thoroughly.

The bureaucrat said his office was committed to the implementation of laws so as to ensure justice.
