Janakpurdham, May 28
Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut has demanded that the federal government announce a ‘special economic package’ for his province in order to help it cope with the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Raut wrote a letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday and drew his attention to the likely crisis in his province. In the letter, Raut mentioned that around one million people currently working in India could return to the province after the crisis, and the government should create employment opportunities for them.
He suggested that the government could introduce some agriculture-centric programmes in the package.
Raut also sought the provincial government’s support for efficient healthcare service as a part of the province’s Covid-19 fight and relief support including food materials.
