Nepal’s anti-corruption watchdog CIAA has formed a three-member committee to investigate allegations levelled against former commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak.
The committee will be led by a joint secretary of the commission, CIAA spokesperson Rameshwor Dangal told Onlinekhabar. He added that the committee has already started its work.
This comes a day after the Office of the Attorney General’s office advised the CIAA that prevailing laws did not prevent the CIAA from investigating allegations against a former constitutional body commissioner such as Pathak.
Pathak has been accused of demanding Rs 7.8 million in bribe for settling a case related to malpractices at Nepal Engineering College. After a video showing him receiving the bride was made public last week, Pathak tendered his resignation to avoid impeachment.
