Captain Manish Shakya, who was rescued from the crash site of the Saurya Airlines aircraft, is currently undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital in Sinamangal. Despite sustaining injuries to his head, legs, and other areas, Shakya is reportedly able to communicate normally. His condition is being closely monitored, and a CT scan of his head has been conducted, with results pending.

The aircraft, a 9N-AME CRJ-200, crashed shortly after takeoff from Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:11 am on Wednesday. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has confirmed that 18 of the 19 people on board, including crew members, died in the incident. Captain Shakya was rescued in a bloodied state by a team from the Nepali Army and Nepal Police.

Following the crash, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and other security officials visited the airport to gather information.

Moreover, postmortems for the 18 deceased victims are set to begin later today. Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital has alerted all necessary technical staff, and the postmortem process will start once the victims’ relatives and Saurya Airlines representatives are present. The process is expected to take about two hours, and the bodies will be handed over to the families in three days.

The aircraft, which was bound for Pokhara and intended for repairs, had 18 passengers and one pilot, Captain Manish Shakya, on board at the time of the crash.
