Kathmandu, April 19

A 71-year-old man died after being crushed by a wheel of a chariot used in Bhaktapur’s famous Bista Jatra in Bhaktapur, the eastern town of the Kathmandu valley, on Monday afternoon.

The chariot crushed Durga Man Kaspal, a resident of Suryabinayak municipality-5 of the district on the last day of the nine-day annual Biska Jatra festival.

DSP Raju Pandey, the Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Range information officer, says he was crushed when the chariot was being pulled towards Banshagopal from Gahiti in the course of Biska Jatra at around 4:45 pm yesterday.

Seriously injured in the accident, he breathed his last during treatment at the Bhaktapur Hospital at around 6:30 pm.
