Kathmandu, June 29

The Biplav-led CPN-Maoist said it will hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday to press for the release of party cadres arrested on the charge of attacking NCell towers. Before handing over the memorandum, the party will stage protests across the country.

In Kathmandu, the party will hand over memorandum to PM Oli himself, while cadres in other parts of the country will hand over the same through chief district officers concerned, Santosh Budha Magar, Kathmandu valley in-charge of the party, informed.

Biplav Maoists had allegedly attacked NCell towers throughout the country, pointing that the telecommunications company had not paid tax to the government. The party says police have arrested more than two dozen of its cadres on the charge of attacking the towers.

Budha Magar told Onlinekhabar: The government has arrested our friends without any basis and filed cases against them. It should release them unconditionally. The government should control inflation and black-marketing and provide relief to earthquake victims.

In Kathmandu, the protests will begin at Shanti Batika at 1 pm. The rally will then head for Singhadurbar, the government secretariat, after passing through Hanumandhoka, Babar Mahal and Maitighar. We will submit the memorandum after protests and corner meeting, Budha Magar said.

Meanwhile, Biplav Maoist cadres smeared soot on the face of engineer Janak Rokaya, who is with Karnali Employment Programme, for ’embezzling crores of rupees’, the party’s Karnali bureau said.
