Bhusal stakes claim to NCP school dept leadership

Nepal Communist Party leader Ghana Shyam Bhusal speaks with journalists in Butwal, on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Butwal, July 25

Ruling Nepal Communist Party’s leader Ghana Shyam Bhusal has staked his claim to the leadership of the party’s school department.

Bhusal’s statement comes at a time when two secretariat members–Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ishwar Pokharel–have staked their claim to the position of the chief, leaving the party in a fix. Due to claims of Shrestha and Pokharel, the party has not been able to appoint leaders of any department.

Speaking with journalists in Butwal of his home district Rupandehi on Thursday, Bhusal said he had been claiming that he should be given leadership of the department since the ninth general convention of the then CPN-UML.

The ideological leader says, “The chairperson [KP Sharma Oli] himself had said I should be given the responsibility. But he kept it with himself, it was not good.”

He maintained that the ongoing discussions about who should lead the department were positive as they would help the party establish a system.
