Bhaban Bhatta elected NRNA President

Kathmandu, October 17

The Non-Resident Nepali Association elected its new International Coordination Council under the leadership of Bhaban Bhatta on Monday night.

During the election held yesterday, Bhatta, a resident of Japan, defeated his sole rival Jamuna Gurung from Australia. Gurung is the wife of outgoing President Shesh Ghale.

Bhatta will lead the global organisation of Nepali diaspora for next two years.

Kumar Panta and Kul Acharya have been elected vice-presidents. Likewise, Sapital Rajbhandari has been elected the Vice-President under Women Reservation. Badri KC, Hikmat Thapa and Som Sapkota turned victorious in the elections held for general secretary, treasurer and joint-treasurer respectively.

Similarly, DB Chhetri and Janaki Gurung have been elected secretaries.

The delegates elected Rajani Pradhan and Sudan Thapa as women’s coordinator and youth’s coordinator.

Meanwhile, the eighth general assembly of the organisation that had begun on Saturday is concluding today.
