Birgunj, July 4
A seven-year-old girl drowned in a water pit made for a brick kiln in Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city-10 of the Bara district in southern Nepal on Sunday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as local Manisha Kumari Ram.
It has been learned that she was taking a bath in the pit.
She was rescued and being rushed to a hospital but breathed her last on the way, informs the District Police Office spokesperson DSP Gautam Mishra.
Of late, children drowning has become a regular affair in Nepal due to the lack of safety measures, insufficient recognition of the problem, and children’s inability to swim among other reasons.
